Err, I reedited your post. Maybe you can keep your lines shorter than 72
characters, for enhanced readability :) What you should do is go to the
midi mapper in windows, and select ultra1024, or something like that.
This is a mapping of general midi to a limited patch set that fits into
1 MB. You need to set the GUS driver to 8 bit patch loading before
loading the patches. The patches needed are in a midi file provided with
the GUS software it has 1024 in its name, maybe its just 1024.mid. Play
this file with the media player, or load its patches via the `get from
midi file' option in the patchmanager. Then run the game.

Subject: GUS and disappearing mouse pointer in Windows....
Intriguing. I have had my mouse pointer disappearing the first time I
enter windows each bootup. It all started when I added LAN workplace for
Dos into my system with a GUS.... I thought it was LWP4DOS related but
maybe it is something to do with the GUS... I installed the 5.xx software
at about the same time....
Anyone have a similar problem / solution?

I have a GUS and an old mono SB compatible. I tried to get them to work
together a while ago, but many of my GUS compatible games would not run with
the GUS, so I took it out. Please could you tell me if you use multiple
config and autoexec files when you have both cards together, or wether you
just have the one. Also when I used both cards together my dual game card
did'nt work, will I be able to use the joystick ports from both soundcards
together so I still have two?

Regarding the Warcraft sound problem...
download the AIL version 3 drivers from most any of the FTP sites listed at
the bottom of this digest. Or you can check out the warcraft upgrade which
includes new executables and the Ultrasound drivers (native) located also in
the FTP sites listed, under the 'submit' directory.
Warcraft sounds EXCELLENT with GUS support... especially after listening to a
friends SB!!! :)

WAV's: cat sound.wav > /dev/dsp (only uncompressed though I think, try
sox to convert if doesn't work...)
MID's: (x)mp, in the adagio package
MOD's: gmod, in the gmod package ;)
Everything should be available on at least sunsite.unc.edu...

I have had no problems using a joystick with Nascar (apart from the
usual ones of learning to drive with a stick not a wheel 8-) )
Alan Wood I have mastered the programming,
~~~~~~~~~~~ now to get the programs working.
Thanks for telling me about the "sblaster.mid". I downloaded it and
replaced it with the existing sblaster.mid file and it still doesn't seem to
work properly. I would run the file (pga486.exe) and it would attempt to
load and then automatically resets and reboots the computer.
I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem. Can someone help me
get the right file or the proper routine to run this program.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I may have missed this being discussed, but is it possible
to use Relentless with GUS and still get sound and
music?
Thanks
